The Moths are something of a rare beast in the Johannesburg underground scene, able to play with anyone while supplying any crowd with an irrepressible desire to get down and dirty to the surfiest beats.

Since 2011, the instrumental three-piece has slowly been carving a name out for themselves with energetic and dynamic performances, be it a floor- show at some dude’s house, jamming in the middle of Soweto or those odd times when they actually get invited to festivals.

The Moths enjoy finding their own sound, and the three surf enthusiasts employ a lot of their punk, psych, garage and lo-fi backgrounds into the band. It’s fast and it’s hard, impossible not to groove to and will make you feel like you are in a Tarantino movie. Waves, babes and COWABUNGA!

SHOWS: http://themothssurf.tumblr.com/shows Highlights include touring with Desmond and The Tutus, playing Smoking Dragon festival three years running and headlining the Vans Campsite Stage last year at Rocking The Daisies.

They have opened for a bunch of international acts, namely Night Beats (USA), Dune Rats (AU), Kil Kil (RE), The Golden Animals (USA) and most recently supporting The Allah­Las (USA) on their tour in both Pretoria and Cape Town.
